Abstract

In performing surgery on the abdominal wall, the surgeon must have sound knowledge of the layered anatomy and neurovascular structures of the anterolateral abdominal wall as a prerequisite for successful body contouring in this region, and the surgeon’s sound knowledge helps reduce complications through judicious placement of incisions and appropriate dissection and, undermining without compromising the vascular supply. The author describes the anatomy of the surface of the abdominal wall, the skin, fascia, arteries, veins, and nerves.
