Abstract
The growing rod technique was originally described for patients with idiopathic or idiopathic-like deformities with normal vertebral anatomy. While there are no studies specifically reporting the results of non-idiopathic spine deformities treated with the growing rod technique, all major series include several non-idiopathic cases. In these papers, success rates of this treatment modality are comparable with those of idiopathic patients and the growing rod technique is a safe and reliable method even for non-idiopathic deformities of young children.
