Abstract

The unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) has become an integral part of the armamentarium for management of knee osteoarthritis (OA). Positive clinical outcomes have encouraged us to study and develop this procedure. This has resulted in an awareness that detailed knowledge of the indications, technical issues, operative procedure and understanding of the philosophical concepts are essential for a successful outcome. The aim of this chapter is to explain in detail these aspects for the UKA.
