Abstract
Dealing with preferences is an important issue in database querying. Suppose that a user is looking for a hotel in Paris. Due to the large number of hotels in this city, providing more knowledge about the user’s preferences in the query will help us eliminate irrelevant hotels and focus only on the relevant ones. Preferences act as filters which return relevant answers rank-ordered according to their satisfaction level.
