Notes
- 1.
This is done by showing that the inner product \(\left(\vec{E}_1(\vec{r}),{{\mathbf{O}}}_E\vec{E}_2(\vec{r})\right) = \left({{\mathbf{O}}}_E\vec{E}_1(\vec{r}),\vec{E}_2(\vec{r})\right)\) for any vector fields \(\vec{E}_1(\vec{r})\) and \(\vec{E}_2(\vec{r})\).
- 2.
Working with the electric field rather than the magnetic field, is only justified by the fact, that the plane wave expansion technique is less cumbersome but the approach would be the same for the magnetic field.
