Abstract
Fractures of occipital condyles are more frequently diagnosed with the widespread use of CT admission protocol and increased survival rate of trauma victims. They are often associated with craniocerebral trauma. Most of them are nondisplaced avulsions or comminutions without related neurological compromise. If not associated with atlanto-occipital malalignment or direct neural compression, the vast majority can be successfully treated in a hard cervical collar.
