Zusammenfassung
Das Schädel-Hirn-Trauma (SHT) ist im Kindesalter eine sehr häufige Verletzung. Leichte SHT überwiegen hierbei und führen insbesondere bei kleinen Kindern oft zu einer Hospitalisation. Schwere SHT sind in den letzten Dekaden dank verbesserter Präventionsmaßnahmen (Rückhaltesysteme im Auto, Helme) deutlich seltener geworden. Die Letalität des SHT insgesamt ist bei Kindern niedrig, die Letalität des schweren SHT jedoch weiterhin hoch bei ca. 30% (Pfenninger u. Santi 2002).
