Abstract
Special presentations need different preparations and settings. Giving a workshop or presenting to a non-medical audience is different from your standard medical presentation. Here it is even more essential to know your audience and to prepare accordingly. Medical presentations to a non-medical public are becoming increasingly more important as doctors now have to sell and explain what they are doing. Here you can not hide behind your reputation or knowledge. Contact with your audience is for this mandatory. Some other types of special lectures are discussed. The ultimate is the so called “Al Gore” lecture type, which is a free-standing performance were all oral, visual and audio techniques come together.
