Zusammenfassung
Als Biologika (Biologicals) werden Produkte bezeichnet, die nicht chemisch hergestellt worden sind, sondern von einem biologischen Organismus. Vorwiegend sind das Polypeptide wie Antikörper, Zytokine und Hormone. Biologika sind schon lange im Einsatz, – z. B. werden Impfstoffe schon seit mehr als 200 Jahren angewendet, sie stellen daher kein neues Prinzip dar. Neu ist allerdings ihre Herstellung mit gentechnologischen Methoden.
