Die Zahl der Patienten, die eine Krebserkrankung (auch langfristig) überlebt haben, steigt kontinuierlich. Auch eine erfolgreiche Behandlung ist oft mit kurzfristig oder mittelfristig, fallweise auch langfristig auftretenden Nebenwirkungen unterschiedlicher Art und Ausprägung verbunden. Inzwischen setzen einige Onkologen sportliche Aktivität als nichtpharmakologische Maßnahme zur Linderung solcher tumoroder chemotherapiemediierten Folgen ein.
