Abstract
Regular airborne and satellite observations, supplemented by reconstructions using historical data of shipboard observations, have allowed us to construct a long series of values of ice cover area in Arctic seas in the region from the eastern coasts of Greenland to Alaska. These data have been used for investigations of climatic variations at an inter-decadal scale in the Arctic.
