Abstract
Compared to the structure theory of semisimple finite-dimensional complex Lie algebras, an according classification, and also description by means of generators and relations, of the simple finite-dimensional complex Lie super-algebras is much more complicated. Some of the reasons for this fact, which in particular renders necessary numerous case distinctions, are indicated below. As in the non-graded case, in general the coefficients can be taken from an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero.
