Antikörper oder Immunglobuline sind die Vermittler der erworbenen humoralen Immunantwort. Sie werden von Plasmazellen gebildet, die sich aus B-Lymphozyten entwickeln. Eine Plasmazelle produziert Antikörper einer Spezifität und einer Klasse. Gedächtnis-B-Zellen bauen nach Zweitkontakt mit dem Antigen eine stärkere Immunantwort auf.
