Abstract
The soft x-ray microscopy program at the NSLS depends critically on the coherence properties of the source. The coherent flux is directly proportional to the brightness [1]; therefore our programs benefit directly from improvements in that area. Work on scanning microscopy, holography and diffraction all started on the bending magnet beamline U15, which was the brightest source of soft x-rays available until the first soft x-ray undulator started operation at the Photon Factory [2].
