Zusammenfassung
Der Einsatz von abdominellen Drainagen ist wie kaum ein anderes Thema weiterhin durch Subjektivismen und fehlende, klinisch verwertbare Studien gekennzeichnet. Die prophylaktische und routinemäßige Drainage der Bauchhöhle in elektiven Situationen kann nicht mehr generell empfohlen werden. Die therapeutische Drainage ist grundsätzlich zur Entlastung von pathologischen Flüssigkeitsverhalten indiziert. Die synthetischen Kunststoffe Polyurethan und Silikon haben die auf Naturprodukten basierenden Materialien nunmehr vollständig abgelöst. Drainagen werden unter den physikalischen Prinzipien Schwerkraft, Kapillarwirkung und Sog eingesetzt. Unterschieden wird zwischen offenen, halboffenen oder geschlossenen Drainagesystemen.
