Zusammenfassung

Die demografischen Veränderungen und die medientechnischen bzw. medialen Umwälzungen, die seit geraumer Zeit unsere Gesellschaften prägen, sind zumindest partiell gegenläufige Entwicklungen. Beide zusammen sind jedoch der Grund dafür, warum die Frage nach der Bedeutung von Medien im höheren Lebensalter heute von verschiedenen Seiten neu bzw. überhaupt erst gestellt wird. Persönliche und institutionelle Internetseiten, Blogs, Chats, Videokonferenzen und E-Mails scheinen die Kluft zwischen den Generationen zu vergrößern und allerorten ist die Sorge zu vernehmen, dass ältere Menschen schließlich von den aktuellen Entwicklungen ‚abgekoppelt‘ werden. Dies gibt uns Anlass, uns mit der Thematik ‚Medien im höheren Lebensalter‘ und den diesbezüglichen Forschungsaktivitäten in unserem Land zu beschäftigen – die, soviel sei einleitend angemerkt, noch am Anfang stehen. Zunächst geben wir einen knappen Einblick in die Lebenssituation der älteren Bevölkerungsgruppe in Spanien und stellen sodann Ergebnisse zur sozialen Wahrnehmung und zum Bild älterer Menschen in den spanischen Medien vor. Im Anschluss skizzieren wir die Mediennutzung älterer Spanier/innen und diskutieren die Potenziale, die von Multimedia und E-Learning ausgehen.
