Das Konzept „social exclusion“ oder soziale Ausgrenzung hat in der wissenschaftlichen und politischen Debatte in Europa als Instrument zur Analyse bestimmter Prozesse sozialer Differenzierung zunehmend an Bedeutung gewonnen. Forschung entlang dieses Konzepts begann im Bereich der Erwerbslosigkeit und wird erst in jüngster Zeit auf die Gebiete Alter, Pflegebedürftigkeit und Versorgung übertragen. Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit den Themen soziale Ausgrenzung im Alter und Pflegebedürftigkeit sowie mit der Analyse von Versorgungs- arrangements in verschiedenen europäischen Ländern.
