Schwester Biljana kommt zur Frühschicht auf ihre Altenpflegestation. Nach der Übergabe schaut sie zunächst in alle Zimmer ihres Pflegebereiches. Im Zimmer von Frau Meier und Frau Schmidt bemerkt sie sogleich einen beißenden Geruch. Sie weiß: Frau Meier, ein Bewohnerin mit demenzieller Erkrankung hatte diese Nacht wieder Durchfall. Nachdem sie sich einen ersten Eindruck darüber verschafft hat, welche Bewohner bereits wach sind und welche heute etwas länger schlafen wollen, geht sie erneut zu Frau Meier, um die Bettwäsche und die Einlage zu wechseln. Sie berührt sie sanft am Arm: „Guten Morgen, Frau Meierli. Ich wechsle jetzt den Bettbezug und wasche Sie dann gleich auch. Ist das in Ordnung?“ Frau Meier brummelt fortwährend unflätige Worte vor sich hin, während Schwester Biljana ihre Arbeit verrichtet. „Dankeschön, Meierli, ist gut, ist gut.“ Schwester Biljana verzieht etwas das Gesicht, als sie das Ausmaß des Durchfalls erkennt. Bevor sie mit dem Waschlappen den After wäscht sagt sie: „Aufgepasst, jetzt wird es ein klein bisschen kalt“. Nach dem Waschen gibt Schwester Biljana Frau Meier mit der Schnabeltasse Tee ein. Frau Meier drückt jedoch ihre Lippen zusammen. „Wenn Sie nicht trinken, kriegen Sie eine Infusion — wissen Sie das!?“ Nach etwas Widerstand trinkt Frau Meier einige Schlückchen.
