Theorie und Geschichte beeinflussen sich immer wechselseitig. Daher nehmen wir im Folgenden keine rein historisch-deskriptive Nacherzählung der Entstehung und Entwicklung internationaler Organisationen vor; vielmehr verfolgen wir mit Hilfe der in Kapitel 2 eingeführten Theorien eine theoriegeleitete Analyse der Geschichte internationaler Organisationen.
