Zusammenfassung

Die Erforschung von Revolutionen hat in den letzten 50 Jahren einen enormen Wandel erlebt. Was einst ein gut strukturiertes Forschungsfeld war, hat sich in eine unübersichtliche Vielfalt von Fallstudien, Methoden und Theorien gewandelt. Bis in die 1970er Jahre hatte sich die Revolutionsforschung auf die Analyse der großen Revolutionen in Frankreich 1789, Russland 1917 und China 1949 konzentriert, die bei allen Unterschieden im Detail deutliche Gemeinsamkeiten aufwiesen.
