Abstract
The Indian method of alternative medicine known as Ayurveda is approximately 3000 years old and concentrates on a philosophy of living. Within this system yoga, meditation and nutrition are important methods of treatment for finding balance in life. The traditional setup of an Ayurveda clinic originates in Far Eastern culture and is inspired by its traditions and history. My project reinterprets the pavilion typology to create a new Ayurveda Center for Austria. Small intimate structures and huts are organized along a pristine natural lake near Salzburg in tune with the alpine environment. Through careful design the project fuses the existing Asian healing technique with a Western milieu and creates the base for an unsurpassed contemporary, global treatment center.
