Abstract
The first order scalar differential equation \( {\rm \mathbf{u}} . \nabla \varphi + b\varphi = f ,\) which is called the transport equation, is one of the basic equations of mathematical physics. It is widely used for mathematical modeling of mass and heat transfer and plays an important role in kinetic theory of such phenomena.
