Abstract
A procedure similar in one respect, but involving more arithmetic and less analysis, was used in [60, Sec.19-20] in connection with a real quadratic extension of the rationals: it will be more profitable to comment on this later (end of Section 4.7). One of the byproducts of this approach lies in a realization of cusp-forms as residues of appropriate series, with considerable resemblance to Eisenstein series: again, it connects to some previous work [60, Sec.15], but there is much improvement, as these series now appear as the main parts of explicit automorphic functions.
