Abstract

The paper presented herein focuses on the possibility and necessity to apply standards related to electric vehicles in the practical training of students. The major organizations issuing standards for electric vehicles are mentioned. Definitions of and the differences between standards and regulations are given. The paper gives examples of how the application of the standards and regulations in different aspects of the operation of electric vehicles is incorporated in the training of students. Available equipment at the Technical University - Sofia used in the practical training of students according to the procedures of EU Standards and Regulations in the field of electric vehicles is described. A case study on the implementation of Regulation No 101 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) (Annex 7 – Method of measuring the electric energy consumption of vehicles powered by an electric power train only and Annex 9 – Method of measuring the electric range of vehicles powered by an electric power train only or by a hybrid electric power train and the OVC (off-vehicle charging) range of vehicles powered by a hybrid electric power train) is considered.
