Résumé

La remise en valeur des atteintes veineuses dans la sclérose en plaques (SEP) par la théorie de l’insuffisance veineuse cérébro- spinale (CCSVI) a fait naître un espoir immense parmi tous les patients atteints, relayé par les forums du Net, espoir souvent déçu à l’origine de comportements inadaptés, difficiles à maîtriser. Elle a entraîné une multiplication des actes interventionnels par des opérateurs inexpérimentés en pathologie veineuse, attirés par la fréquence de cette maladie. Des établissements centrés sur la prise en charge diagnostique et thérapeutique des atteintes veineuses dans la SEP ont vu le jour, appuyés par des publicités spectaculaires via Internet.
