L’infarcissement mésentérique (IM) est la conséquence digestive d’une thrombose aiguë de l’axe veineux mésentérico-porte. Improprement appelé infarctus veineux mésentérique, c’est une pathologie rare qui représente 5 à 15 % des infarctus intestinaux [1–3]. Cette entité, décrite pour la première fois en 1895 [4], a finalement été distinguée de la forme artérielle en 1935. Sa prévalence dans la population générale reste imprécise. L’incidence des thromboses veineuses mésentériques supérieures (TVM) symptomatiques, rapportée par une équipe new-yorkaise, a été de 2 pour 100 000 admissions [5]. Le pic de fréquence se situe entre 60 et 70 ans, avec une légère prédominance masculine. La présentation clinique de la thrombose aiguë varie du stade asymptomatique jusqu’à l’IM. Le caractère aigu d’une TVM est défini par le délai diagnostique qui doit être inférieur à quatre semaines depuis l’apparition des symptômes
