Abstract

Computer-based physician order entry has become a key component of electronic health record systems and the topic of many scientific publications. The importance of a global prescription platform. that includes drugs but also the other aspects of patients care, is often undervalued. So is the ability to create order sets targeted at common clinical problems, which will translate common clinical practice a lot more efficiently that single basic orders. This logic can be pushed further by developing clinical pathways that will fully realize the potential of e-prescribing as far as security, quality and efficiency.
