Résumé

Le pronostic du cancer du sein a largement bénéfi cié de son dépistage précoce et des progrés thérapeutiques qui permettent de guérir plus de trois femmes sur quatre quand la maladie reste localisée. La présence de récepteurs hormonaux rend un grand nombre de ces cancers sensibles à des thérapeutiques hormonomodulatrices, susceptibles de prévenir les récidives en détruisant les cellules malignes non détectables présentes au moment du diagnostic.
