How I Assess and Repair the Barlow Mitral Valve

Abstract

From a practical point of view, there are two groups of patients with degenerative mitral valve disease. The largest group presents with localized mural leaflet prolapse, usually as a result of a ruptured chord, localized to the postero-inferior portion of that leaflet (Fig. 9.1).
