Abstract

The standard of care and monitoring during PRSI and subsequent patient transfer should be the same as is expected in the anesthetic room or in the intensive care unit. The Association of Anesthetists and the Intensive Care Society have published guidelines for the transfer of intubated patients (Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland 1996; Whiteleys et al. 2002) (Box 5.1).
