Abstract
Atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries (CAA) and its complications are the principal pathological processes that result in coronary heart disease (CHD). Cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) are a well-characterized animal model of susceptibility to diet-induced atherogenesis. Cynomolgus monkeys imported as adults have little or no atherosclerosis.
