In this section the “primitive” operations are reviewed, which the computer system provides the programmer for generating graphic displays. Because the idea of a primitive operation is a relative concept in the hierarchy of a modern computing system, the idea is to start at the lowest level in the hierarchy, with the hardware, and then briefly demonstrate how each level has emerged to handle more and more complex tasks.
