Abstract
In many introductory microprocessor (or microcontroller) courses, one is taught to program in assembly language. Until now, it was probably best to program in assembly language, but at this point it is probably best to move to C. In this chapter, we discuss why one might want to make this change, and we give a first example of implementing a filter using a program written in C.
