Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to introduce example virtual machines for a very small and simple object-oriented language and the core of a pseudo-parallel language. Each virtual machine is described in some detail; it is to be hoped that:
-
They are sufficiently clear to permit the relationship between the components of each virtual machine to be related to the language concepts it implements. (The languages are described but the detailed mapping is left to the reader to identify.)
-
They are sufficiently clear to be used as the basis of a real implementation without too much additional work.
