Abstract

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a relatively new treatment modality being applied to non-small cell lung cancer. Currently, it must be considered a third-line treatment in this clinical setting, after surgery and radiation therapy. Also, it has not received approval by the Food and Drug Administration specifically for use in the lung. RFA has promise, nonetheless, as a minimally invasive means of achieving local control of lung tumors in carefully selected patients. This chapter reviews patient selection, procedural technique, complications, imaging findings, and outcomes associated with this procedure.
