Abstract
Heart failure afflicts nearly five million Americans, with a large proportion of patients over the age 65. While ischemic heart disease accounts for most cases, 6–9% of all cases of heart failure may be attributed to valvular heart disease. This chapter describes the percutaneous therapies available to treat valvular heart disease and includes both a review of available clinical data and a discussion of past and current device technologies.
