Summary
Recent advances in CT technology have revolutionized non-invasive imaging of the airways (1–3). It is now possible to image the entire airway tree in a few seconds and to create elegant 3-D CT reconstructions of the airways in only a few minutes (Fig. 1) (1–3). Fast scanning techniques also allow for volumetric acquisition of CT data during expiratory maneuvers, revolutionizing the non-invasive assessment of tracheobronchomalacia and small airway disorders. This chapter reviews recent advances in CT imaging techniques and describes currently available CT imaging methods for imaging the large and small airway disorders.
