Abstract
Outcomes trials have established the benefit of treating hypertension in the older patient but not the very elderly (1,2). These trials are reviewed because they represent the cornerstone of care of these patients. Subset analyses of early studies suggested a potential benefit for reducing blood pressure (BP) in older patients (3–8).
