Abstract

In the setting of ambiguous melanocytic proliferations, the utility of ancillary molecular techniques is still controversial. Currently ancillary techniques such as comparative genomic hybridization and fluorescence in situ hybridization cannot replace conventional microscopy. Detailed morphological evaluation of the lesion remains paramount in the diagnosis of the overwhelming majority of pigmented lesions.
