Abstract
These chapters demonstrate the variability of information available regarding the safety and efficacy of drugs used to prevent or treat bone loss in children. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we do not withhold the benefits of a new drug from children due to concerns about possible side effects. Rather it is important to balance potential risks against potential benefits, carefully select study subjects, and obtain the resources to perform the necessary studies.
