Phylogenetic Analysis of Middle Ear Features in Fossil and Living Rodents

Abstract

The anatomy of the middle ear of mammals is certainly well known and has recently been redescribed by Parent (1980). Nevertheless, it seems advisable to recall the main features of this anatomy, which can be used to evaluate the probable affinities of the various groups of rodents.
