Abstract
In this chapter we treat the representations of semi-simple Lie algebras, an important topic for physical applications. We begin with an example to illustrate some of the basic ideas. We discuss representations of the algebra A 2 in the theory of the strong force of nuclear physics. We first provide some background for the physical ideas. For further details the reader may consult Feynman (Book III, Chapter 11–5) or Gibson and Pollard.
