Abstract

This chapter introduces the Lacandones, focusing on the northern Lacandones of Naha’. It provides a context past and present, that situates the people, their language, and their relationship with forest. It gives a brief overview of the situation of research, collection methods, and a description of the Lacandon consultants who assisted in the research for this work. It includes description of the formatting and organization of the book, under How to Read this Book, along with a list of abbreviations and brief descriptions.
