Abstract
A 67-year-old man with a history of hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus presented for laparoscopic cholecystectomy. During surgery, the patient developed intraoperative ST segment elevation and then underwent emergent percutaneous coronary angioplasty. Lessons discussed in this chapter include cardiopulmonary effects of laparoscopy, interpretation of intraoperative ST segment changes, perioperative myocardial infarction, and myocardial oxygen supply-demand relationships.
