Abstract
Enumeration, or the theory of counting, is discussed. The concept of an event, a collection of possible outcomes, is introduced. Summations, which were a topic in Chap. 1, are studied further. We also distinguish between counting the number of selections or combinations—subsets of a given size—and counting arrangements or permutations—subsets where the order of the elements is important.
