Abstract
The Moon is found on many flags. It is often assumed that a Moon-bearing flag automatically belongs to a Muslim country. Well, not always. Aside from the fact the crescent moon and star symbol predates Islam, there are a few nations that have incorporated the Moon on their flag for different reasons.
