Abstract

This chapter focuses on homicides involving immigrants in Europe, both as offenders and victims. Old and new immigration patterns in Europe and their impact on policy are described. Difficulties related to data collection, for both immigration trends and homicide events involving immigrants, are outlined. Lastly, the chapter ends with a discussion about two types of homicide where immigrants appear to be disproportionately at risk in contemporary Europe, namely honor killings and hate crimes.
