Abstract
Stem prostrate, decumbent, to nearly erect, rather stout, sometimes branching, with a siphonostele, indurated, bearing rather long and dense trichomes, especially toward the apex; leaves large, ca. 1–2 m long, pinnate, glabrate, circinate in the bud, the petiole without stipules; sporangia borne on the abaxial surface of the pinnae, in exindusiate sori, with a short, 4-rowed stalk and slightly oblique annulus that is nearly interrupted by the stalk; homosporous, spores without chlorophyll. Gametophyte epigeal, with chlorophyll, cordate, somewhat thickened centrally, antheridia and archegonia borne on the lower surface, the antheridium with usually five or a few more cells.
