Abstract

In this chapter we will first describe a simple parser for nondeterministic context-free phrase-structure grammars. We will then augment the parser in a couple of stages to turn it into a deterministic device with a wider scope. It is recommended that a student with no previous experience in writing parsers should start with implementing the first simple parser and do the more complex ones subsequently.
