Part of the book series: Partially Ordered Systems ((PARTIAL.ORDERED))

Abstract

This chapter is devoted to nonlinear optical phenomean in periodic media, mainly the case in which radiation wavelength is close to the spatial period of the nonlinear medium. Under this condition, effects can appear which are not observed in the usual crystals where the spatial period is much smaller than optical wavelength so that periodicity does not affect nonlinear optical phenomena [1,2].
